Rock Paper Scissors

Rock Paper Scissors is a popular hand game often used to make quick decisions or resolve disputes between two players. It’s simple yet engaging, with a fair balance of luck and strategy, and is played in many different cultures worldwide. The game is based on three possible hand signs, each representing one of the elements: rock, paper, and scissors.

Basic Rules:

  • Rock crushes Scissors: Rock beats Scissors.
  • Scissors cut Paper: Scissors beat Paper.
  • Paper covers Rock: Paper beats Rock.

If both players choose the same sign, it results in a tie and no winner is declared.

Gameplay:

  1. Both players count to three aloud or in their minds ("Rock, Paper, Scissors, Shoot!").
  2. On "Shoot," each player simultaneously forms one of the three shapes with their hand:
    • A fist for rock,
    • A flat hand for paper,
    • A fist with the index and middle fingers extended for scissors.
  3. After showing their hand, the winner is determined based on the rules above.
  4. In case of a tie, the game can be played again or players can use a new round to break the tie.

Strategy and Luck:

While Rock, Paper, Scissors is fundamentally a game of chance, many players incorporate a psychological element into their strategy. For example, players may try to predict what their opponent will choose based on patterns or employ a "throw randomness" strategy to prevent being predictable.

Some players might also use more advanced strategies in tournament settings or competitive play, such as the "paper beats rock" trap, where they anticipate their opponent's previous choices and attempt to counteract them.
